Central New Jersey may have the most academically saturated middle school market in the country, and the practical consequence is that most debate programs here are already full, already competitive, or already assume prior experience. Podium Debate teaches Lincoln-Douglas online to genuine beginners in grades 5-12, in cohorts of six to eight grouped by age and skill, which is a different starting point from a room built for students who already compete.

New Jersey high school speech and debate competes through the New Jersey Forensic League and the state's NSDA districts, and the corridor from Princeton through West Windsor and Edison sends a heavy contingent to regional and national tournaments. It is a strong region with a high floor.
A high floor is intimidating rather than welcoming when your child has never done this. What is genuinely hard to find here is a beginner-level Lincoln-Douglas cohort where a 6th grader is not the least experienced person in the room by three years.

Cohort times are fixed once a roster is set, and most land on weekday evenings and weekends because that is what fits around a school day. A locked weekly slot is deliberate: the same six to eight students meeting at the same time all season is what lets a coach write a specific note about your child in week twelve rather than a generic one. Bring your constraints to the call before you enroll.

A student whose school runs Public Forum can add Lincoln-Douglas here without leaving that team, and the skills transfer directly between the two. For external tournaments in New Jersey, we handle selection, preparation, and logistics so the student walks in ready.
